Location of your furnace is very important. As part of our technicians cleaning preparation, they look for enough space near the furnace for their very large machine. Many Furnace’s are located in the basement but there are situations where they can be on the main level or even sometimes on a second level. Though our strong technicians can bring the machine up and down stairs, if there is not a space big enough to set it down, we would not be able to perform a normal cleaning.

The layout of your HVAC system also matters. Though each system works the same, it can be very different when it comes to cleaning. On a normal layout, it would include the furnace, trunk lines, and attachments to the trunk lines that run up to the registers (vents). During our cleaning process, our technicians drill holes into the trunk lines, providing an entry way for them to apply negative air. The more complicated layout called the Octopus does not have trunk lines which prevents us from drilling into our normal locations. Occasionally, this octopus layout can work if a furnace contains another attached compartment called the plenum which could be an option for our technicians drill location.

Before cleaning an HVAC system you have to carefully inspect areas that may contain hidden flaws that would impact the process. Large amounts of asbestos tape can be a major issue and withhold us from cleaning. Check out our asbestos blog where we explain the health hazards associated with asbestos tape. Things like rusting duct work, incomplete duct work, or geothermal (insulation) inside your ducts, make it difficult to perform a proper cleaning as well. Amber’s Air Duct Cleaning in Bath, MI provides you and your family in-depth explanations and knowledge about your ducts and why we may not be able to clean them.
