Dryer Vent Cleaning Equipment & Process

Equipment & Tools

Similar to cleaning air duct cleaning, a high powered gas air compressor, rods, whips, and skipper balls are used to clean a dryer vent. Furthermore, the air alone will do a great job, but here at Amber’s we LOVE using agitation tools, so lets whip it. Agitation tools allow us to breakup the buildup and pull everything out with compressed air.

Process

In most cases, the dryer is turned on during the cleaning which provides a push. In addition, rods are connected and taken down the dryer vent to determine the length needed. Once the length is determined tools are attached. Lastly, a total of 3 passes down the dryer vent, first with a reverse skipper ball, second with a whip, and third with the reverse skipper ball.

Method

Comparatively, it’s the same method used to clean an HVAC system, “Push-Pull.” In fact, the push from the dryer vent since we’re cleaning from the outside could be considered a double pull. As a result, the dryer vent will be as clean as it can be.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

In conclusion, a efficient and effective cleaning will help the dryer run more efficient. Not to mention, help reduce the possibility of a dryer vent fire. Most importantly, who you hire or how it’s cleaned will determine these two reasons to have your dryer vent cleaned. Nobody likes wasting money!

When Should I hire Professional Dryer Vent Cleaners?

The fact is, we all need our laundry washed and DRYED! Furthermore, the more the dryer is used the faster the lint builds up. In our Professional opinion, you should have your dryer vent cleaned annually. Here are a few things to look for:

  • Clothes are not drying on the first cycle

  • Visible moisture/water on the vent

  • Dryer shuts off

In this case, you probably need your dryer vent cleaned. Did you know that motor in a dryer can burn out? That’s right, the dryer is overworking trying to compensate for lack of airflow, it’s working too hard, and your old or brand new dryer is now going in the dumpster. Once again, call Amber’s Air Duct Cleaning at (517) 885-3000 to schedule your local Professional Dryer Vent Cleaners.

How Much Does Dryer Vent Cleaning Cost?

First, the cost to clean a dryer vent will depend where it exits out the out the home. For instance, if a dryer is located on the 2nd floor it may come out of a home on the 2nd floor or may exit out the roof.  That being the case the cost to clean would be more expensive for a Professional to climb on a roof rather than using a ladder to clean the dryer vent on the second floor.

On the other hand, the least cost would be a 1st floor dryer vent, no roof, no ladder equals little liability. It’s important to realize the challenge and liability will ultimately determine the price. Honestly, it shouldn’t matter how long or how dirty the dryer vent run is. According to HomeAdvisor, “a typical dryer cleaning will cost between $100 – $169, with an average of $132. High-end job can run as much as $300.”
